Congratulations!

Huge congrats to MAEA Members Ralph Caouette, Sara Egan, and Kristi Oliver who were honored at the National Art Education Association National Convention, which was held virtually this year. The award ceremonies were held on Saturday Feb 27, 2021. 

Ralph was awarded the 2021 MacArthur Goodwin Award for Distinguished Service Within the Profession. Sara was awarded the 2021 Eastern Region Museum Education Art Educator. Kristi was awarded the 2020 Eastern Region Outstanding Art Educator, and was celebrated this year due to the cancellation of the convention in 2020.

Ann Villarreal, 2021 MAEA Art Educator of the Year was also celebrated at the national level!

Congratulations to all of the national, regional, and state award winners.

Call for Art – 2021 MAEA Awards

The MAEA Awards Committee is currently accepting art submissions from artists for the 2021 MAEA awards. These will be awarded to our 2021 MAEA award winners this fall. The selected image will be printed on glass via Fracture for the awards ceremony. The deadline for submission has been extended through September 20, 2020. Learn more here.

Call for Award Nominations – Deadline Extended to May 15

Here is your chance to celebrate your outstanding colleagues and nominate them for the 2021 MAEA Art Educator Awards. MAEA will honor the award recipients in conjunction with the 2020 MAEA Conference – exact event details to be determined. The submission deadline has been extended to May 15, 2020.

Don’t forget you can also toot your own horn and ask your administration to nominate you for an award or self nominate!

2020 NAEA Eastern Region Awards

Congratulations to all of the award winners who would have been celebrated at the 2020 NAEA convention. A Special congratulations to Kristi Oliver, 2020 Eastern Region Art Educator of the Year, as well as Lizzie Fortin, 2020 Massachusetts Art Educator of the year.

Other art educators recognized at the convention include Caddy Cicogna, 2020 Eastern Region Preservice Art Educator of the year; Michelle Grohe, 2020 National Museum Education Art Educator of the Year; Patty Bode 2020 National Ziegfeld Award Recipient, United States Society for Education Through Art.

2020 MAEA Awards Ceremony

The MAEA Board of Directors are looking forward to honoring and celebrating the 2020 MAEA Art Educators of the Year at the 2019 MAEA conference at Montserrat College of Art.

The awards ceremony is November 9 in the Underground 248 Cabot Street, Beverly. Please join us for the awards ceremony at 5:00 pm. The MAEA Awards Ceremony is open to the public.

Congratulations to Jaimee Taborda, whose work was selected in a blind review to be this year’s award image. Please look for this opportunity next year in conjunction with the 2021 MAEA Art Educator Awards.
