Are you or someone you know looking for ways to combine art and science to engage youth? Now’s your chance to become a Cool Science Mentor! Our online workshop is for adults who want to work after the workshops with at least ten K-12 youth in Massachusetts, Kansas, or Missouri.  We provide the art materials and supplies for the mentor workshops. You get to learn from home about art and the science of extreme weather.  Win-win!
Each workshop series consists of three online sessions.  You can choose to attend one of the two three-part options below:

    • Early June Series: Part I – Jun 7, Part II – Jun 9, Part III – Jun 11
      4 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. (EDT)
      -OR-
    • Late June Series: Part I – Jun 22, Part II – Jun 23, Part III – Jun 24
      4 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. (EDT)
During this workshop series, you will learn how to educate youth about the science of extreme weather through artistic expression.  You will enhance your understanding of both science and art, which will help you become a better youth mentor.  You will also learn about an exciting art contest for youth.

BONUS! Online workshop participants will receive:

    • Art and science resources
    • Art supplies and lesson materials
    • A pro-rated stipend of up to $200 based on the number of submissions to the Cool Science Art Contest*
*Mentors who attend all three sessions of a workshop series and submit their accordion book will receive $50. Trained mentors will also receive $15 for each mentee that submits a piece of artwork, an artist statement, and an accordion book to the Cool Science Art Contest, up to a maximum of $150.  All stipends will be paid after the contest submission deadline has passed.
