MAEA Members Exhibit @ Montserrat College of Art

The MAEA Conference Committee is happy to announce that there will be a Members exhibit in conjunction with the MAEA Conference New Perspectives in Art Education next month! Active and retired MAEA Members are invited to submit their 2D artwork and small 3D work for the annual MAEA Members exhibit Continued Perspectives, at Montserrat College of Art.

The registration deadline is Friday November 1 – please note drop-off dates start before registration closes. If you register on November 1 you should plan to deliver work directly to Montserrat College of Art sometime the following week, or mail it in to be delivered by Wednesday November 6. Learn more and register for this exhibit today.

Call for Student Art: The Printed Image

MAEA is continuing our series of art education exhibitions in the second floor atrium/gallery space at the State Transportation Building in Boston. Middle school and high school art educators are invited to submit 10 pieces of student work. Work can be straight digital or film photographs, pieces that have been altered in some way, for example via digital manipulation, printmaking, AND 3D printed work (NEW). This exhibit opportunity is free for MAEA members. Non-members can participate by paying a $20 registration fee.

Middle Level and Secondary art educators please put work aside for our fall exhibit The Printed Image. Art educators are invited to submit 10 pieces of student work. Work submitted can be straight digital or film photographs, pieces that have been altered in some way, for example via digital manipulation, or printmaking.

Save the Date – Massachusetts Amazing Emerging Artists Recognitions Exhibit

Digital submission for the 2020 juried MAEA Recognitions exhibit will be open November 11 – December 6, 2019. Watch for complete information on submitting your student work for this juried show at the end of August.
  • Open to grade 9-12 art students of MAEA members only
  • Limit 5 entries per teacher – 1 entry per student
  • Artwork by individual student – No collaborative work
  • Digital Submission – Image of artwork accompanied by an artist statement
  • Blind jury process

Art Educators of Massachusetts Exhibit

MAEA is continuing our series of art education exhibitions in the second floor atrium gallery space at the State Transportation Building in Boston, and we’d love to have you participate!
Active and retired art educators working in Massachusetts are invited to submit their 2D and 3D artwork for the annual juried exhibit Art Educators of Massachusetts . The jury for the exhibit will be art teaching peers who are members of the Massachusetts Art Education Association Board.

Submitting your art for this exhibit is easy!
  1. Go to 2019arteducatorsofmassachusetts.artcall.org
  2. Click the REGISTER button in the top right corner of the page to create an ArtCall profile or log in if you already have a profile.
  3. Click the NEW SUBMISSION button.
  4. Enter your submission details and promo code if you are an MAEA member. Don’t have the promo code? Check your email for the most recent newsblast or send an email to exhibitions@massarted.com.
  5. Upload up to four pieces of artwork.
  6. Receive a confirmation e-mail once you have completed the submission process.

#WickedSmARTShows – May Art Show Feature

We want to share your art shows! During the month of May, MAEA will be featuring art shows of all kinds from across the state. Want your art show to be featured? Use the hashtag #WickedSmARTShows and tag MAEA in your art show social media posts.

Art shows can:

  • Include a whole program or a subsection of the program
  • Be organized/selected by the teacher or the students
  • Happen before or in May

Be sure to mention in your post who you are, where you teach, what grades you teach, and anything else that makes your art show special!
