Youth Art Month: Flag Contest

Celebrate Youth Art Month – Have your students enter the Youth Art Month Flag Contest sponsored by Sargent Art. This contest is open to students in grades K-12. Each teacher may submit up to 10 entries.

This year’s theme is TAKE A JOURNEY THROUGH ART.

One Grand Prize winner will receive: $250 to student PLUS $500 in Sargent Art supplies for your classroom.

One Elementary, Middle, and High School winner will receive: $100 worth of Sargent Art supplies to student PLUS $300 in Sargent Art supplies for your classroom.

Youth Art Month: Statewide Exhibit Registration Now Open

March is Youth Art Month. There are many ways to participate in Youth Art Month 2020.

One way to join in on the Youth Art Month fun is by participating in the Statewide Youth Art Month exhibit! Join teachers from across the state as they celebrate the amazing work of their students. The exhibit will be displayed in Boston at the State Transportation Building.

All participating teachers for the Statewide Youth Art Month exhibit must register. Registration for the Statewide Youth Art Month Exhibit is free for MAEA members | Non-members pay $15.  Registration closes January 10, 2020.

Registration Open: MASSACHUSETTS AMAZING EMERGING ARTISTS EXHIBITION

REGISTRATION IS OPEN NOVEMBER 13 – DECEMBER 6, 2019!

MAEA is sponsoring a juried art exhibit for high school students, grades 9 – 12, open to MAEA members only. Entries reflect original artwork from students in public and private schools. The exhibition will coincide with the Youth Art Month exhibit at the Massachusetts Transportation Building with an awards ceremony on March 1, 2020. NAHS @ Montserrat College of Art – Reception This Saturday

Thank you to all the NAHS chapter sponsors who prepped work and have dropped it off or mailed it in for the NAHS exhibit Open Perspectives in conjunction with the MAEA conference New Perspectives in Art Education at Montserrat College of Art in Beverly.

If you plan to attend the exhibit reception on November 9 from 3:30 pm – 5:00 pm, please RSVP today. The exhibit and reception will be held in the 2nd Floor of the Hardie Building, 23 Essex Street, Beverly MA 01915.

MAEA Conference attendees do not have to register with the link above, but instead just select the NAHS exhibit reception as a session in the conference schedule.

This exhibit includes student artists from Andover High School, Beverly High School, Braintree High School, Falmouth High School, Fairhaven High School, Franklin High School, Groton-Dunstable Regional High School, Lowell Catholic High School, Manchester Essex Regional HS, Marblehead High School, Needham High School, Revere High School, Shepherd Hill Regional High School, Somerville High School.

DESE Arts Ambassadors Teams Announced

We are excited to share that many of the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Arts Education Ambassadors are Visual Arts Educators and MAEA Members! Congratulations to Visual Art Educators Louis Martinez, Peter Curran, Alice Gentili, Andrew Dexter, Timmary Leary, and Steve Aldeus. The following MAEA Board positions are currently open for a two-year appointment, January 1, 2020 – December 31, 2021. Interested members, as well as eligible incumbents, are encouraged to apply.

Youth Art Month Statewide Exhibit

Make sure you are a part of our 2020 statewide Youth Art Month exhibit, where we will honor Massachusetts artists in grades k-12 and celebrate quality art education at the State Transportation Building in Boston.

Youth Art Month Flag Contest

Another way to participate in Youth Art Month is the 2020 Youth Art Month Flag Contest sponsored by Sargent Art.

This contest is open to students of MAEA members, grade k-12. Digital entries will be accepted November 13 – December 20, 2019.

Prizes include $250 in Sargent Art supplies for one overall winner and $500 in supplies for the art teacher, as well as $100 in Sargent Art supplies each for one elementary, middle and high school student and $300 in supplies for their art teachers. More information coming soon.

2020 MAEA Recognitions Exhibit

Secondary art educators, we invite you to participate in the third year of this exciting opportunity for high school art students.

This juried exhibit is open to students in grades 9-12. Participants must be students of an MAEA member.

Each teacher may submit up to 5 pieces of student artwork, with a limit of one entry per student and a $5 fee per entry.

Digital submissions will open be open November 13 – December 6, 2019.
