The mission of the Massachusetts Art Education Association (MAEA) is to advance high-quality visual arts education throughout the state by empowering art educators to excel in the practice, instruction, promotion, and celebration of visual art.
Joining The Board
Board positions are two year terms, unless otherwise noted. Please see the schedule below for each position. Interested members, as well as eligible incumbents are encouraged to apply in October of each year. Elections for President-Elect and appointments for Special Interest Representatives, and Exhibitions Committee Chair, Publications Editor, Webmaster, and Liaisons will happen in the fall of odd number years.
Elections for Treasurer and Secretary and appointments for Division Directors, Conference, Youth Art Month, Awards and Student Recognition Committee Chairs will happen in the fall of even number years.
Current work underway:
- Working on a draft revision of the constitution to submit to the membership for approval.
- Updating our bylaws to align with our constitution.
- Assisting in planning the 2019 NAEA Convention in Boston March 14-16.
- Planning is underway for next year’s conference to be held in Beverly, MA hosted by Montserrat College of Art in November, 2019.
