Lauren Gould Donahue, CT Douglas Elementary School
Lauren (she/her) is the art teacher at CT Douglas Elementary in Acton, MA for grades K-6. She is a passionate advocate for student-directed learning and Teaching for Artistic Behavior (TAB) pedagogy. In the Douglas studio, she works to create an inclusive environment where students feel comfortable exploring their identity and who they are as artists. She facilitates the development of student creativity and confident problem-solving, so students feel successful, not just in the studio, but as global citizens. Lauren finds so much joy in learning alongside her students, and experiencing the flow and magic that happens when they are absorbed and excitedly exploring new materials and original ideas. She is currently serving on the TAB Inc. Board as the secretary, and is working to further connect regional leaders & TAB teachers across the world. Culturally responsive teaching and the Studio Habits of Mind are main principles of Lauren’s practice. She has led professional development on these topics for her school and in the art education community, and has two TAB advocacy pieces published.
